How to use Photoshop Custom Brushes

In this article I am going to introduce to you a tool in Adobe Photoshop which you most definitely will use often. Some of you might have used the Brush tool before. But did you know you can use custom brushes? Custom brushes can be found all over the internet. Some are available free of charge while others require a fee before you are able to download them.

Now lets get started.

1. Download a custom brush. For this example you can download this brush.

2. Unzip and save the brush into your Adobe folder. Usually its at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe  Photoshop CS3\Presets\Brushes

3. Open up Photoshop

4. Click on the brush tool

5. Click on the arrow at the top bar

6. Click on the arrow found in the brush box

7. Choose the custom brush that you have just saved into the adobe folder. Everytime you add a new brush the list found here will increase. Please note that the list of brushes will only update if you add the brushes into the folder BEFORE opening up Adobe Photoshop.

8. Select the brush from the brush dialog box

9. Now you can use the custom brush in your designs!

I hope this article has helped those new to photoshop. Just Google "Photoshop Brushes" and it will yield lots of websites that host great photoshop brushes. Til Next time. Au Revoir!
